QR Code as a Tool!
During the classes, children will learn what a QR code is, for what it is needed, where it is used, how to make and scan QR codes themselves.
• Module duration - 1 week
• Age - from 8 to 12 y.o
The First International CyberSchool teaches children aged 8-12 creating and scanning QR codes. The objectives of this module are to increase the motivation of students in the field of mastering new communication technologies, to form their ability to independently encrypt information, extract and analyze it. All this contributes to the development of intellectual and creative abilities. The course is designed for those who have never worked with QR codes before, and for those who want to experiment with this unique tool, learn all the subtleties and tricks for organizing information exchange.
Features of "QR Code as a Tool" module
QR codes were first created back in 1994. A Toyota subsidiary named Denso Wave developed the code in order to help in the manufacturing process, they aided in tracking vehicles and parts. It was designed to allow for fast decoding speeds, hence the name Quick Response code.
Since QR Code carries information both horizontally and vertically, QR Code is capable of encoding the same amount of data in approximately one-tenth the space of a traditional barcode. Therefore, QR code could not only hold a great deal of information, but it could also be read more than 10 times faster than other codes. QR Code is capable of handling all types of data, such as numeric and alphabetic characters, Kanji, Kana, Hiragana, symbols, binary, and control codes. Up to 7,089 characters can be encoded in one symbol.
QR code is read using a mobile phone or other device with installed software.
Nowadays, QR code is an augmented reality tool that is actively used in many areas of our life: in tourism (architectural and historical monuments, museum exhibits), in publishing (presentations of books and magazines, links to publications), in training and in advertising newsletters, in social networks, etc. The scope of this technology is limited only by the imagination of each creator.
The training course "QR Code as a Tool" by KIBERone CyberSchool is based on the author's program developed by IT professionals, psychologists and teachers. The module is adapted specifically for children's perception, so that it is easier and faster for a child to get the skills that are in demand during everyday life and necessary for professional growth in the field of IT. In addition, students develop creative abilities, logic and flexibility of thinking, they form an idea of the possibilities of using mobile technologies in training.
Tutors of the module will explain and show children how to convert signs, images, complex links and so on into code, as well as teach children to use a variety of programs for decryption. With CyberSchool, your children will:
This module is an opportunity to increase the level of technical literacy of your child and acquire the necessary skills to work with specialized software. In the future, they will not only become active "readers" of QR codes, but also will know practical options for using this technology in preparation for lessons and in extracurricular activities, and will also be able to find more interesting applications for them.
